What is the role? The Director of Events & Marketing is in charge of helping XRC build a community - an engaged and passionate ecosystem that is supportive and helpful to XRC and our startups. In doing so, the Director of Events & Marketing will lead the vision and execution of all external-facing events and marketing initiatives, including owning and managing email and social campaigns. In addition, the Director will also be in charge of building and managing our marketing calendar and will be deeply familiar with the digital tools and asset creation needed to deliver best-in-class digital marketing strategy for XRC Labs. This role requires strong experience in events, from conception, to budgeting, to management, to production/execution. Responsibilities: Events Design, create and execute XRC?s presence at industry trade shows, conferences, and third-party events, including all programming and production. Includes researching, sourcing and closing C-Suite speakers from early-stage, growth-stage and established retail and consumer goods companies. Produce detailed proposals for events based on outlined needs (e.g. timelines, venues, suppliers, staffing and budgets). Negotiate contracts for tradeshows, conference centers, restaurants, local venues, and various types of suppliers. Execute all partnership needs; research, pitch and land partners and sponsors. Simultaneously manage and execute multiple events of varying sizes at any one time. For each event, manage onsite execution of events as well as post-event follow up. Manage internal and external communication around tradeshows, events and conferences. Manage and track Event Marketing budgets with the goal of promoting the company?s brand and services to the target audience with a strong focus on ROI. Post-event tracking and ROI analysis to help measure the company?s marketing initiatives and to improve future performance. Communications/Marketing Set the strategy and direction of all print and digital communication including all social media platforms (including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn); determine presence in emerging platforms. Build out marketing calendar with KPIs. Layer in events, email and social media marketing to maximize impact and awareness; execute the strategy, managing internal and external talent and resources to achieve your goals (including photography, graphic design etc.) Research and assess new ways to drive interest at events by leveraging event advertising, targeted lists, and other creative opportunities to get out there; test and follow-up campaigns. Develop an operating model/ collaborative processes where all your internal cross-functional partners are aligned and working in tandem to deliver best-in-class events. Manage and ensure accuracy of the XRC website Other Create and maintain the upkeep of a varied selection of marketing collateral - t-shirts, brochures etc Provide occasional support to startup labs, and sourcing teams to increase exposure of XRC to the startup community What is Required: Bachelor?s degree required. 3-5 years of Event Planning preferred 3 years client management experience 3 years of experience managing email marketing and social media campaigns; mailchimp experience strongly preferred. Comfortable working independently, self starter who thrives in a small startup environment. A can-do attitude and ability to multitask. Highly skilled at recruiting, hiring and managing vendors, consultants and 3rd party contractors to achieve your objectives. Strong negotiation and event management skills; ability to prioritize projects and initiatives. Strong financial acumen; past experience managing budgets. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail. Experience with traffic metric systems such as Google Analytics Team player with a positive attitude and proven ability to develop effective and influential relationships at all levels of the organization. Strong technical aptitude, including ability to learn company systems/tools and create process efficiencies. Demonstrates leadership and integrity at all times.
