Data Management & Insights (DMI) is transforming the way that Wells Fargo uses and manages data. Our work enables Wells Fargo to empower and inform our team members, deliver exceptional experiences for our customers, and meet the elevated expectations of our regulators. The team is responsible for designing the future data environment, defining data governance and oversight, and partnering with technology to operate the data infrastructure for the company. This team also provides next generation analytic insights to drive business strategies and help meet our commitment to satisfy our customers' financial needs.

The Data Management Solutions (DMS) organization within Data Management & Insight (DMI) provides holistic and consistent data management capabilities to Wells Fargo. This includes Data Management, Data Quality Monitoring, Metadata Management, Enterprise Data Lake (EDL) Management, and Master/Reference Data Management.

The EDL Data Security Operations Leader (Data Mgmt Manager 2) will report to the EDL Data Security Leader as a key member of the team charged with managing data security and access operations through a business data management lens across the EDL. This position will be accountable for managing the development and execution of end-to-end data scanning and data access business processes; and business controls relating to data privacy & sensitivity, data usage, data security requirements, data protection, and data access areas.

The manager will direct a team in developing solutions, tools and processes used to maintain a common, enterprise-wide data management approach for securing data assets within the EDL. Provide leadership by developing business plans, policies and procedures and may also be responsible for execution and implementation of initiatives that improve data confidence and controls. Provide consultation in process evaluations, performance monitoring, and statistics to senior management. Define strategic requirements, roadmap, policies, procedures or direction for data scanning capabilities. This challenging, yet rewarding role will require collaboration across other enterprise data management teams as well as developing strong working partnerships with Wells Fargo Technology teams.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Partner with DMI, Risk, LOB, IS, and IT teams to establish data security business processes and requirements
  • Implement measures to integrate data scanning and security practices and requirements along the end-to-end data lifecycle
  • Leading a framework for assembling information and other KPI/KRI data as needed or required
  • Manage the creation and maintaining of data scanning processes and procedures
  • Manage the creation and maintaining of data access security processes and procedures
  • Drive the identification and lead the resolution of data scanning process control gaps
  • Partner with data domain teams to support data scanning activities through data understanding and early identification of data scanning requirements
  • Promote data scanning and security practices across the data community
  • Establish and operate data scanning and security governance routines
  • Create, maintain, and communicate data handling and accepted usage behaviors of enterprise data environment assets
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to mature data scanning and security capabilities
  • Support/drive development of presentations, as needed, across various audiences
  • Provide support to ad-hoc requests as needed

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: data management, data governance, data quality or data analysis
  • 4+ years of management experience
  • 3+ years of experience with data analysis and documentation
  • 2+ years of Governance and Compliance experience
  • 2+ years of financial industry experience
  • 2+ years of data security experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience defining and/or developing business initiatives that require integration of multiple technology systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of data governance challenges and approaches: metadata, data quality, and data stewardship
  • Ability to motivate staff to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Ability to facilitate team meetings or present information to an audience
  • Experience in gathering, analyzing and interpreting large datasets
  • Knowledge and understanding of security and governance standards/policies
  • Knowledge and understanding of data governance program development and implementation in a large organization across multiple business functions
  • Data security experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of SDLC (System Development Life Cycle)

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Expert level experience with defining and operationalizing cross-functional governance structures
  • Expert level experience with synthesizing input from multiple sources into business requirements, standards, and/or guidelines
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance requirements concerning data privacy and data protection in the financial services industry
  • Demonstrated understanding of identity and access management, and data access monitoring concepts
  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal
