The Cancer Institute is one of UM SJMC's premier service lines.
We are located adjacent to the hospital where all of our patients are able to receive treatment in one place.
Our radiation oncology department is located on the ground floor.
Our palliative care team's office is also located on the ground floor along with our cancer research staff, community outreach, and cancer registry staff.
Our first floor provides medical oncology services where patients receive their chemotherapy/biotherapy and immunotherapy.
Our second floor includes our Breast center where patients are seen by one of two surgeons. Our Joint Venture with Advanced Radiology is located on the second floor where mammography, bone density scans and ultrasounds are completed.
Our third floor houses our new Barbara L. Posner Wellness and Support Center and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center.Summary of Duties
The research nurse will work with his/her team which consists of another research nurse, senior research coordinator and research compliance supervisor. In addition the research nurse will meet with our physicians on a weekly basis to review potential patients, obtain approvals, etc.
The role is responsible for clinical duties such as screening patients, consenting patients, educating patients and assessing patients in person and by phone. Regulatory duties include data entry, assuring protocol requirements are met, completing annual continuing reviews,, submitting A/E reports etc. This team meets every two weeks with the medical director to discuss operational and strategic topicsWhat You Need to Be Successful:Education
2 year / Associate's Degree: Nursing
4 year / Bachelor's Degree: BS in Nursing and/or active pursuit of advanced degree or specialty certification. (Preferred). Certification/License
State Registered Nurse License and BLS Certification required.
Prefer research certification from SOCRA or ACRP Skills
