The Sales & Marketing Development Program (SMDP) offers a structured start to your personal career path. Over the course of your tenure in SMDP, you will develop competencies in sales, marketing and management through a variety of roles and experiences.
Your first role, as a Sales Coordinator or Sales & Marketing Specialist; you ll relocate within the US to manage a territory of stores for either The Home Depot or The Lowe s Home Improvement Store. In this role, you will be responsible for sales, merchandising, event strategy and execution, marketing, forming business relationships, and creating a go-to-market strategy.
Following your role as a Sales Coordinator or Sales and Marketing Specialist, you ll have the opportunity to develop your own unique career path. As a member of SMDP you ll be supported in your transition into roles within Sales, Marketing or Management. Typical roles, but not limited to, are as follows: Market Manager, Enterprise Solution Coordinator, Field Service Coordinator, Inside Sales and Brand, Channel and Product Marketing.
While in SMDP, your development and growth will be supported through an in-depth training curriculum, providing you with extensive knowledge and understanding of our products and the industry. SMDP immerses you in the world of our end-users, customers, and business partners at multi-billion-dollar retailers, commercial job sites, and service centers.
Throughout the program you will have the opportunity to relocate with each new role to major metropolitan cities across the United States, and grow your professional network. More About Your Role:
Home Depot and Lowe's are top retailers for Stanley Black & Decker products, and you will call on several stores within reasonable driving distance. Marketing and merchandising strategies are developed at the corporate level, and your mission will be to ensure those strategies are implemented at the store level.
In general, you will visit one to two stores a day, rotating so that you call on each on a regular and frequent basis. You'll invest most of your time building relationships with key personnel in the stores, executing merchandising strategies that will drive sell through of our products at the store level, and owning and executing event initiatives.
Another important goal will be building rapport and maintaining relationships with the key decision makers in each store, to ensure complete and timely execution of merchandising initiatives and to make sure they have the resources and support they need from Stanley Black & Decker. This will set the stage for another objective: utilizing sales skills and being aggressive in driving incremental business at the store level through leveraging additional merchandising space and selling-in store specific sales driving initiatives.
