Job Description :

Define scope of information technology programs and develop effective quality solutions to challenges which involve unique or complex problems. Develop, recommend and monitor business wide strategic direction for system engineering and services. Direct less senior professionals. Responsible for reliability, stability, and availability of the site s computing infrastructure systems (which may include servers, desktops, storage devices, data center components, utility software, or equivalent infrastructure components). Provide judgment, leadership, and expertise in the large-scale implementation of infrastructure computing systems.
Comply with and define team processes and practices for execution of assigned tasks.
Maintain technical expertise in systems engineering, demonstrate flexibility in multi-disciplines and assist others in their development.
Complete assigned administrative tasks in a timely and quality fashion.
Proactively communicate and coordinate with others across IT to provide support for infrastructure system and drive change.
Participate in strategic and tactical planning associated with systems engineering, operation and management.
Apply technical experience in field of specialization to resolve complex problems. Incorporate advanced technical practices and apply new or special hardware, technologies, processes. Lead major complex wide project efforts. Consult, coach, and train others.
Troubleshoot complex hardware/software systems based on general problem input from management and/or customers. Plan technical effort and coordinate activities with those of other divisions, departments and sections to effectively troubleshoot and solve problems.
Ensure compliance with technical and security requirements of assigned work and work of others under direction. Ensure the end product is designed to solve the original problem and performs appropriately.
Determine schedules and staffing requirements for assigned tasks. Demonstrate cost and schedule consciousness.
Ensure that systems security is maintained through access monitoring, control and evaluation.
Ensure that documentation and configuration information for the systems is accurate and maintained.
Shift schedule is determined by job assignment and may include off hours schedule.
Assignment may include 24x7 support as part of an on call rotational assignment.

Basic Qualifications
(Quantifiable; e.g. Three Years Experience, Bachelors Degree) :
Bachelor degree in an IT related discipline (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Technology. Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering) with 7 years proven performance in related assignments; or
Non-related Bachelor degree with 9 years proven performance in related assignment(s); or
Associate Degree in IT related discipline (e.g. Information Technology, Computer Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering) with 9 years proven performance in related assignment(s); or
Non-related Associate Degree with 11 years proven performance in related assignment(s).
In lieu of degree, a high school diploma with typically greater than 13 years of equivalent knowledge and experience is acceptable.

An understanding of the academic as well as the practical aspects of Systems Engineering is required. Ongoing technical development in Systems Engineering is required.

Expert level technical knowledge base of technologies, interfaces, protocols, hardware/software, standard concepts, principals and techniques. Ability to apply formal training and guide and provide technical advice to others with less experience. Awareness and general understanding of industry standards and emerging directions in systems engineering.
Other Qualifications :
This position requires providing 24x7 coverage on a rotational basis.
Preferred Qualifications :
Participate in the installation, configuration, and support of Oracle database software products as necessary to integrate them into the Site s computing environment. The role will require constant interaction with other database administrators on the team and will require project management skills to develop and maintain a robust, scalable, and performant database infrastructure system at Savannah River Site (SRS). Begin to plan and develop IT solutions to technical task or project objectives. Provide tactical design, engineering, technical specifications, project coordination, and configuration management for complex IT solutions. Assist more senior technical personnel in performing activities in more complex tasks and begin to provide guidance and technical expertise to junior personnel. Systems may consist of servers, desktops, storage devices, data center components, utility software, or equivalent infrastructure components. Comply with team processes and practices for execution of assigned tasks.

Database Management Support
a. Provide technical expertise and support for Oracle12c/Oracle19c database environment.
b. Demonstrate experience with database management features/utilities (RAC, datapump, RMAN, Parallel query, etc)
c. Data modeling and database design
d. Database schema creation and management
e. Backup and recovery
f. Ensuring data integrity
g. Performance management and tuning
h. Ensuring availability
i. Instance and database security
j. Knowledgeable with LINUX Redhat R7 and UNIX Sun Solaris

Maintain technical expertise in assigned emphasis areas and demonstrate flexibility in multiple disciplines.
Complete assigned administrative tasks in a timely and quality fashion.
Proactively communicate and coordinate with others across IT to provide support for assigned areas.
Incorporate conventional systems engineering practices into problem solving and program planning. Perform detailed system hardware/software troubleshooting.
Define specific problems based on general problem information from management and/or customers. Plan technical effort and coordinate activities with those of other divisions, departments and sections to focus areas and solve problems.
Ensure compliance with technical requirements of assigned work, proper utilization and training of personnel operating under one's technical guidance and compliance with approved schedules and staffing estimates.
Ensure appropriate technical performance of the end product developed and designed to resolve the original problem.
Demonstrate cost and schedule consciousness.
Maintain system security through access monitoring, control and evaluation.
