Panorama is hiring a VP, Preclinical Research to lead all aspects of preclinical development in order to advance drug candidates from late-stage discovery to the clinic. The individual will take responsibility for the design and execution of IND-enabling studies during preclinical development. The successful candidate will have a track record of successfully initiating and managing preclinical research projects in support of pipeline advancement across multiple indications with external partners (CROs, academic labs, and pharma partners). Responsibilities: Plays a critical role in developing and advancing Panoramas mission and strategic direction. Provides leadership to the overall strategic planning, budget planning, and successful implementation of multiple preclinical development programs. Accountable for the ADME/PK and efficacy studies to enable prioritization of candidates for preclinical development and for IND filing. Single point of accountability for generating, tracking, and delivering timely, cost-effective program milestones and regulatory filings on schedule and budget. Manages external CROs and business partners. This will include relationship building, site evaluations, design of collaborative work plans, progress monitoring, and technical optimization. Initiates and manages relationships with academic partners in specific disease areas to align discovery and preclinical development activities to the ultimate clinical endpoints. Builds and leads the preclinical team. Contributes to discovery efforts by providing guidance and support to the internal discovery team. Provides technical support to business development team. Contributes expertly to patent and regulatory filings. Presents research findings to Panoramas management team and international scientific conferences. Qualifications : PhD, MD, or PharmD with 10 years of experience in advancing pipelines towards IND filing and managing preclinical operations. Ability to design a rigorous, streamlined critical path from small molecule drug discovery to IND filing and execute on it with CROs. Proven track record of successful IND filing. A deep understanding of drug discovery and development including competitive landscapes and commercial opportunities in multiple disease spaces across multiple modalities. Exceptional management and interpersonal skills; build and lead outstanding preclinical team/capability. Ability to draft hypothesis-driven preclinical research plans. Experience with supporting Business Development efforts. Strong publication record. No recruiters please.
