The purpose of this position is to ensure delivery of consistent, accurate and timely measurement data information to Northern Natural Gas Company customers. This position functions as a consultant to the measurement areas and works closely with GMS, facility planning, scheduling, accounting, marketing and gas control groups to be a central point of contact concerning measurement issues. This position ensures that the Northern Natural Gas Company customers are kept informed on all measurement related issues, and represents the company at customer meetings.Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)
Act as a first point of contact with Northern Natural Gas Company customers to investigate customer complaints regarding measurement concerns and measurement related billing questions. (15-20')
Verify the accuracy of volumes (SCADA, PGAS, TMS). (15-20')
Responsible for gathering and analyzing data from various internal systems such as Load Forecaster, SCADA system and other internal applications. Analyze, develop, maintain and report information related to forecasting. (20-25')
Responsible for interacting with outside agencies (DTN, MISO, SPP, ERCOT) to gather outside data to improve forecasting. (0-5')
Support department reporting to management as needed (0-5')
Ensure that all measurement and telecommunication issues are processed through the Northern Natural Gas Company measurement desk and logged accordingly. (5-10')
Track the resolution process and timeliness completion of all measurement and telecommunication related issues pertaining to Northern Natural Gas Company measurement stations. (10-15')
Coordinate the cross-functional activities and services of measurement related organizations to ensure integration with Northern Natural Gas Company business needs. (5-10')
Review legal documents for tariff filings and certificate filings related to measurement issues and processes. (5-10')
Help with the imbalance management effort by ensuring that imbalances reflect correctly measured volumes. (5-10')
Monitor Northern Natural Gas Company fuel usage, un-metered gas losses, and lost and unaccounted for gas. Reconcile end of the month unaccounted volumes. (5-10')
Conduct periodic reviews/audits to assure quality data. Review measurement information prior to customer billing to insure accuracy and avoid prior period adjustments. (5-10')
Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (0-10')
Bachelor's degree in engineering, accounting, business administration or related field or equivalent work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
Five or more years of related technical measurement experience in the energy industry.
Proficient in PC skills and applications, including Microsoft Office products, SCADA, PGAS and TMS.
Ability to coordinate project assignments across departments/functional areas.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills when dealing with all levels of customers and employees.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Effective analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and balance multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
