They are looking for a Senior Director, Commercial Insights & Market Research to join their team.

* Prior direct report management experience
* US and Global experience preferred
* Orphan product experience a plus
* Experience with metabolics, neurology or hematology a plus

The role of the Senior Director, Commercial Insights & Market Research is to inform and influence the company's commercial and strategy teams by enabling high quality, evidence-based decision making, supporting key elements of the company's portfolio, therapy areas, indications, and/or geographies.
This individual will lead a small team integrating critical insights from market research/data to deliver actionable recommendations and drive strategic decisions for the US and with ex-US affiliates. A key requirement for the role is to develop a strong partnership with the team and Regional marketing leads, brand teams, and senior management, as required.
The Senior Director will work across functions, primarily with marketing teams, to answer global and regional business questions, profile business trends, influence R&D and clinical programs, guide asset strategy and contribute to promotional and marketing material development. The key regional teams this position will interact with are: US, Europe, Japan, Australia/Canada, and Latin America.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Principal Responsibilities
+ Leading and managing a small team of market research professionals, prioritizing and allocating their time, in line with business priorities and budgets
+ Developing and enhancing the company's insight generation capabilities, vendor management, and encouraging innovation
+ Independently designing, leading and executing qualitative and quantitative primary market research projects to address key business questions relating to commercial products and/or pipeline stage products. Understanding the business need and designing a project, including methodology and vendor selection, to provide answers and actionable information
+ Executing projects in a timely manner and within budget. Presentation of final results and strategic insights and responsibility for analytics of primary and secondary data sets to extract country and region-specific insights to identify issues and trends to better inform decision-making and strategy development
+ Besides technical proficiency with a range of primary research methodologies and secondary data analysis, the role will involve understanding and triangulation of primary market research with disease area literature and other operational data to identify inconsistencies and uncover integrated predictive and prescriptive insights
+ Serves as the \"voice of the customer\" to the assigned Therapeutic Area Team(s) and must translate \"customer/stakeholder learning\" into actionable recommendations. The candidate must be able to facilitate, challenge and lead discussions with cross-functional teams regarding implications and relevant recommendations based on those insights generated from primary and secondary research and other analyses. Must be able to defend positions and recommendations with executive management teams
+ Act as an internal knowledge expert and strategic business partner, working collaboratively with respective teams(s) as well as other cross-company and cross-functional partners. Due to the nature of the work, the incumbent must be able to manage complexity, think analytically and allocate time effectively between multiple priorities or therapeutic areas
+ Respond to ad hoc requests for key commercial and business insights, delivering material in a succinct and effective manner to fulfill communication needs with internal and external stakeholders with diligent accuracy
+ Innovate and push the limits to conduct market research and analytics that exemplify best practices and build enhanced value for commercial partners
+ Execute all work in an appropriate and compliant manner consistent with the values of the organization, working with internal teams to define and revise procedures and policies as needed

+ Have extensive experience conducting primary and secondary market research, in the biopharma industry with Physicians, Patients and Payors in multiple countries preferred

+ The job requires an understanding and ability to integrate marketing and science in multiple disease states to be effective. Experience with clinical data interpretation as well as competitive intelligence is important
+ Strong ability to listen to and interpret data, think about the story it is trying to tell, and effectively communicate the findings to key stakeholders. Inquisitiveness to anticipate and answer the follow up questions
+ Ability to assess data sets from primary market research and secondary sources to mine additional insights
+ Strong project management skills

+ Deliver insights to align with therapeutic areas goals and deadlines
+ Present clear concise summary reports or dashboards to senior regional leads and executive teams with recommended actions to modify trends, ensure launch excellence and business growth in light of future competitive market scenarios
+ Probe beyond the descriptive insights provided in top line reports from primary market research to uncover diagnostics insights that explain the 'why's' behind the reported results
+ Influence forecasting and strategic and/or tactical planning initiatives with commercial insights derived from triangulation of primary and secondary sources
* Managing Internal & External Resources
+ Manage the market research budget and timelines assigned
+ Initiate RFPs with multiple vendors and management of vendor selection process
+ Effective use of internal & external secondary data sources to conduct appropriate analysis
+ Review and assess market research agencies and data suppliers. This will encompass a variety of agencies. Primary research, secondary data, and forecasting services
+ Draft statement of work documentation to support engagement with healthcare practitioners and patients and internal compliance and legal review processes
+ Manage vendor interactions to ensure results & insights meet mission critical timelines
* Partnering & Communication
+ Develop strong partnerships with cross-functional teams - marketing, medical, sales, business analytics, commercial operations and new products groups
+ Ensure relevant team members are engaged at key stages of project to ensure that critical business questions are adequately addressed
+ Serve as a resource and mentor to guide and/or challenge activities outside assigned scope of work
+ Leverage partnerships with regional affiliates to identify best practices in market research and share these with global affiliates
+ Participate and contribute to corporate initiatives beyond assigned responsibilities
+ Remain flexible as work responsibilities change based on business needs

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in life science and/or business / marketing required; Master's degree in science and/or MBA/PhD degree - marketing, market research,statistics preferred
* 10-15 years of experience in market research and analytics in healthcare, research /consulting firm, or pharmaceutical/biotech company
* Credible thinking and performance that earns the respect of R&D, Commercial and Executive management teams
* Ability to lead projects independently and modify vendor's methodology as appropriate
* Experience in a market and specialty/orphan drugs preferred
* Experience in hematology, neurology & metabolic diseases preferred
* Experience in a global role preferred
* Fluency in other languages is a plus preferred
* Analytics & Forecasting skills preferred
* Commercial Analytics and ROI Tracking for Marketing programs preferred
* Combination of prelaunch, launch and post-launch experience preferred
