Job Description:

Lead Marketing Writer

Are you a creative, hardworking, skilled marketing writer and leader? In this role, you'll act as a player-coach leading our expert writing team while also providing copy coverage for web, campaign, and collateral content. Our writers have one overarching goal to connect with prospects and customers so that they fall in love with our brand, trust it, and remain loyal to it. You will lead their efforts to create engaging, informative, persuasive copy while also doing some writing yourself.

  • Effectively lead a team of 5-6 writers.
  • Apply writing best practices and develop brand messaging to promote key Micro Focus advantages throughout the customer journey.
  • Write and edit compelling ad, web, email, signage, and other marketing content targeted at buyer personas with specific needs and issues.
  • Establish the frameworks, processes, and writing allocations required to ensure delivery of marketing goals and priorities.
  • Write and edit for clarity, brevity, accuracy, readability, and value.
  • Ensure that consistent brand messaging is used across all channels.
  • Enforce the Micro Focus writing style guidelines.
  • Build trusted relationships with designers, product marketers, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders.
  • Constructively challenge content that is not clear, consistent, well structured, or meaningful.
  • Work proactively, meet tight turnaround times, and assist teammates as needed.
  • Manage relationships with other teams.
  • 12+ years of experience as a copywriter, ad writer, marketing writer, or journalist.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, relevant, customer-centric copy.
  • Energetic mindset with the talent to produce multiple options fast, under pressure, and within specifications. (e.g., word count, target audience, voice, style, etc.)
  • Fast and insightful research skills.
  • Enthusiasm for web metrics that gauge content performance.
  • Tenacity, strong work ethic, and a desire to constantly improve and share insights.
  • Bachelors degree or higher in communications, marketing, journalism, or English.
  • Experience managing a team of writers.
Recommended Qualifications:
  • Experience with B2B marketing
  • Experience in technology industry
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices
  • Knowledge of best practices for web and email writing.
