The Global Strategy & Business Development Associate works closely with the Global Strategy Team to achieve LexisNexis revenue and profitability goals and to maintain and enhance its industry leading position. Responsibilities include providing high quality and timely research and analysis to inform recommendations on strategy, acquisitions, divestments, market characteristics, and competitive dynamics. We operate in a collaborative and supportive culture and require the role holder to be a strong team player who is able to execute discrete workstreams of projects as well as rapidly shift to participate in additional projects as necessary across the business units. The role requires outstanding analytical, excellent communication and advisory skills, the ability to execute workstreams independently, the ability to support cross-functional teams within the organization, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships across the business. In many instances, the Associate will also participate in the operational implementation of the plans and ensure best practices are leveraged.

As the Global Strategy and Business Development Associate your key roles and responsibilities will include:

1.Conduct competitive and market intelligence analysis

  • Analyze economic, market and competitive data and communicate key information and implications to the senior leadership team
  • Support delivery of the annual operating plan cycle including strategy reviews
  • Support delivery of Board and Investor presentations from across different business units
  • 2.Support the development of internal reports on the state of the business or broader legal services industry

  • Support the development of reports for CEO / Board of Directors on the legal services market working with the business unit strategy leads
  • Support the development of quarterly reports assessing financial performance of the business
  • 3.Support the delivery of projects to address and solve key strategic issues facing the business units, delivering high quality results to planned timescales
  • Support multiple concurrent projects, keeping the Global Strategy Team updated and timelines on track
  • Conduct analysis and draw insights and recommendations from a variety of data sources such as sales data, market data, usage data, and front-end customer facing interviews / surveys
  • Execute workstreams independently and support the Global Strategy Team in delivery of a variety of business performance improvement initiatives
  • Example projects include:
  • -Evaluate the attractiveness of new markets for LNLP and develop market entry strategies
    -Assess product and content capabilities and develop prioritized roadmaps to enhance competitive positioning
    -Develop a growth strategy for business unit by understanding current and potential use cases for its assets and develop a tactical plan to execute
    -Build a tactical plan for a cross-functional initiative within the organization, model the financial impact and benefits

    4.Support the organization and execution of annual senior leadership conferences and events

  • Work closely with colleagues to coordinate logistics and content workstreams, including agenda design, developing presentation material and advance planning to ensure smooth execution of event
  • Identify keynote speakers and legal technology start-ups to showcase to senior leadership
  • Manage execution of event, including coordination with external event planners
  • 5.Be an active member of the Global Strategy Team

  • Be a trusted sparring-partner to other Strategy team members
  • Help with team-building initiatives
  • Support the development of an effective Strategy team, including ensuring knowledge transfer within the Strategy team and best practice sharing across the business
  • Work with strategy leads across LNLP to support the sharing of ideas and best practices
  • Bachelor's degree
  • The successful candidate will ideally have at least 2 years of experience in consulting and / or a corporate role with emphasis on strategic planning and / or business development. Candidates with less than 2 years work experience will be considered on a case by case basis
  • Able to draw out key insights / recommendations from research / analysis
  • Must be a strategic thinker who is highly analytical and has excellent presentation and communication skills as well as advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must have a strong sense of how business operates in a global context and be able to bring a macro perspective to business opportunities
  • Ability to deliver results working with individuals of all seniority levels within a complex, matrixed environment
  • Strong team and collaboration skills
  • Proven track record of dealing with senior level executives
  • Previous experience in a top-tier management consulting firm preferred, but not required
  • Experience in the software, legal or technology industry preferred, but not required
