The Executive Vice President for Business Development will be the lead executive within Fiduciary responsible for top-line growth of the firm. Overseeing all aspects of sales, the EVP for Business Development will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategies to increase market share, revenues, and profitability of our high net worth (HNW) business. This role will collaborate with other senior leaders in Relationship Management and Marketing as a partner, and in some cases, a consultant to solve complex challenges, assess and pursue new opportunities, and/or offer their expertise. The candidate is expected to bring together multiple capabilities such as strong relationship management skills, pragmatic problem solving, and process management strengths. The successful candidate should have demonstrated capabilities as a member of a high performing leadership team, ideally within a mid-to-large sized wealth management firm. What are the ongoing responsibilities of the Executive Vice President for Business Development?? Business Development & Sales:
  • Responsible for leading the development of new business from HNW individual investors and families. The primary focus will be on investment management opportunities, but may also include trust, estate and related custody situations.
  • Develop multi-year firm-wide growth strategy in partnership with senior management team and sales force with a primary focus on U.S. and Latin American markets. Over time, we anticipate more non-US focus, particularly in Europe and developed Asia.
  • Leadership as a player/coach of all Sales professionals, and their support teams, in order to achieve annual and multi-year growth objectives. Manage and develop Business Development Officers nationally.
  • Determine approach, staffing, compensation strategies, budget, key responsibilities, and schedule to achieve strategic sales goals.
  • Coordinate the development of firm-wide and individual sales targets.
  • Maintain active contact with known referral source relationships and prospective clients to encourage them to engage with Fiduciary Trust Company International (FTCI).
  • Pursue prospective new business situations with HNW individuals and families.
  • Work with FTCI in conjunction with trust, tax, and relationship management teams to draw upon their skills and those of their colleagues and outside advisors to provide thoughtful innovative, integrated and relevant wealth management advice and solutions.
  • Marketing:
  • Partner with Franklin Templeton?s Marketing & Global Advisory Services teams to develop and implement necessary materials, events, and advertising strategy for FTCI including:
  • Positioning?& branding, product?&?service marketing, public relations, event?support, promotions, web strategy, advertising and?client & prospect communications?across distribution channels.
  • Working closely with the marketing team, the EVP-Business Development is responsible for defining FTCI?s strategies?and spearheading the execution of all marketing initiatives.
  • Dotted line management of cross functional team members from other internal departments to ensure execution of all event aspects, including development of project timeline, program objectives, budget, logistics and necessary content.
  • What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone be successful?
  • 15+ years of experience at a senior level in a global HNW wealth management firm, with a focus on investment related services versus private banking
  • 10+ years of experience in a sales/business development capacity in wealth management
  • Understanding of Franklin Templeton and Fiduciary Trust?s broad range of investment management capabilities, distribution channels, and internal resources
  • Proven ability to develop and execute wealth management strategies across multiple regions and cultures
  • Highly developed communication skills, both oral and written, for effective technical and interpersonal interaction with clients, intermediaries and colleagues
  • Ability to think strategically and navigate through a complex, multi-level business environment to deliver results
  • Able to set priorities and make budget/resource decisions that affect various business units and profit centers
  • Leader with reputation as a developer of people and organizations. Experience managing large diverse teams in multiple locations
  • Able?to manage internal/external client relationships and needs across multiple geographic regions and time zones
  • Frequent travel to Fiduciary?s network or regional offices required
  • Bachelor?s degree required, MBA or equivalent preferred
  • Credentials such as CFA, CFP, or CAIA a plus
