With Exelixis' continued growth and extensive, fast moving pipeline, the need has been identified to recruit an experienced Senior Manager in Market Planning. The team is looking for a strategic, creative and resourceful integrative thinker, who will be accountable to provide actionable insights and information to commercial leaders to inform business strategy and initiatives for in-line and potential future new indication launches. This individual will be responsible for leading and managing market research studies and work closely with multiple cross-functional teams within commercial and across Exelixis, Inc.Position Requirements:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work cross-functionally within the Commercial, Medical and Research functions.
Take a consultative role in supporting pre-launch strategy, product positioning, promotions, and post-launch strategy by sharing insights integrated from primary market research, secondary literature, competitive intelligence and secondary data
Effectively communicate insights and lead meetings with commercial leaders and other cross functional business partners
Lead, design and execute primary market research projects with HCPs and patients to gather and share actionable insights
Develop, define and monitor key performance indicators for launch initiatives
Understand patient epidemiology and inform assumptions for long-range and short-range forecasts.
Explore and create pathways for accessing information in the pre-launch, launch and post launch market and provide alternatives based on information and modify data based on course of action selected.
Develop and oversee execution of US Market Research including management of third parties associated with this function.
Attend key scientific congresses and summarize key insights from a scientific perspective focusing on novel treatment paradigms, mechanisms of action, and clinical trial landscape.
Master's degree in related discipline and at least six years of related experience; or
BS/BA degree in related discipline and at least eight years of related experience; or
Equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience leading both qualitative and quantitative primary market research projects for marketed products, including but not limited to tracking studies (ATUs, Chart Audits), message/concept testing, and positioning research
Experience in developing sound strategic partnerships with Brand, Sales and Market Access teams.
Experience using or interpreting secondary data sources including IMS, Claims, and patient-level data highly desirable
Experience with pharma/biotech analytics, forecasting and business planning highly desirable
Previous commercial experience in Brand, Sales or Market Access role highly desirable
Previous launch experience is highly desirable.
Previous life cycle management and new product evaluation experience highly desirable.
Prior oncology experience is highly desired with specialty product experience as a minimum.
Leverage scientific training to evaluate and analyze scientific literature to develop perspective on evolving treatment landscapes.
Knowledge of multiple qualitative and quantitative market research methods.
Ability to consider multiple alternatives and provide complex scientific / clinical analyses of those alternatives in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to frame critical therapeutic area questions, identify information needs to answer those questions, and determine where to best search for primary and secondary information sources.
Knowledge about key market-shaping activities and how data can support success.
Effective presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent organizational, project management and problem-solving skills.
Works on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.
Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation of criteria for obtaining results.
Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups.
