This position serves as a key strategic business development leader with overall responsibility for the research, analysis, assessment and launch of strategic growth opportunities that strengthen Dayton Children's market position and financial vitality. Key responsibilities include:. Overseeing a process that uncovers, evaluates, recommends and plans opportunities for growth. Conducting regular market, competitive and environmental assessment to identify emerging opportunities and support actionable strategic direction. Leveraging research and market analytics to evaluate opportunities. Overseeing the service line strategic planning process. Developing detailed business plans for significant opportunities. Cultivating partnerships that strengthen both parties and advance growth opportunities. Further, this position works collaboratively with the chief strategy officer, senior leadership and innovation and performance excellence team to update and align the hospital's strategic plan in recognition of ever-changing market conditions and that innovative business development growth opportunities are developed and implemented.. Business development. Oversee a systemic process for identifying, screening and developing strategic growth opportunities. Identify and recommend new, expanded or enhanced services to achieve growth, strengthen competitive position, and improve consumer experience.. Lead the development of and piloting on new opportunities, working closely with \"business\" owners in planning, implementation and evaluation of opportunities.. Provide lifecycle visibility to business development activities.. Provide senior leadership quarterly dashboard of opportunities in process.. Oversee post launch evaluation of all new business growth opportunities.. Collaborates with service line leadership to identify and develop opportunities for strategic growth. Works closely with finance and service line leadership to create business plans and financial proformas.. Works closely with services and referral marketing in uncovering and launching new services and programs.. 2. Market Research and Insights. Lead and provides expertise in developing market insights required to uncover new opportunities and strengthen Dayton Children's position. Maintains ongoing review of pediatric and competitive landscapes to inform Dayton Children's strategic priorities and opportunities for growth. Leverages consumer segmentation insights to shape strategic growth opportunities and strengthen Dayton Children's value proposition. Stays abreast of trends and changing environment. Provides regular market insights report to senior leaders. Works closely with marketing in capturing the voice of the consumer through research and regular assessment of consumer feedback. 3. Strategic planning. Works closely with the chief strategy officer in development and regular review of strategic road map.. In conjunction with chief strategy officer, oversees agile planning cycle to evaluate and establish strategic priorities for the hospital.. Establishes a strategic planning cycle and process for service line strategic plans and facilitates the development of those plans including the market and environmental assessment.. Collaborates with corporate director of innovation and performance excellence and executive leadership in development of strategic priority milestone planning and performance review.. 4. Partnership development. Identifies opportunities for growth through partnerships, employer agreements and other types of alliances.. Works with corporate counsel and finance to structure the alliances.. Identify avenues for growth through existing partnerships.. Provide structure for evaluation of benefits of partnership.. 5. Management. Works through influence to uncover, develop and evaluate growth opportunities and initiatives.. Manages one direct report, a market insight and planning analyst.. Required experience. Five years health care experience in strategic planning, business development and market research. Knowledge of health care organizations and administration and standards and laws applicable to business development. Proven financial management skills, capable of reaching closure and timely accomplishment of objectives. Knowledge of principles of interactive planning, participatory management and influence leadership. Skilled at executing strategy and problem solving--asks the right questions, follows up and determines the facts, setting priorities based on business opportunity. Skilled at spotting trends and developments. Proven ability to direct the development of business plans and proformas. Professional attributes. Strong project management skills and follow-through from vision to execution with measurable results to bottom line. An individual highly motivated to work cross functionally in order to accomplish goals and effect change with a demonstrated ability to engage physicians in strategic planning and growth initiatives.. Excellent at building team and motivating people. Able to identify the right people to execute strategic opportunities and motivate people to act whether they are peers, subordinates, physicians or administrators. Skilled at accomplishing goals through others. Someone who understands the dynamics of a hospital environment and can navigate between disparate entities to successfully unite constituencies toward a common goal.
