Our client is well known as one of the largest, most innovative medical device and solutions, in orthopaedics, spinal care and neuroscience, in the world today. This position is in the R&D Materials department within Research & Development which focuses on a sustainable and environmentally compliant products and packaging. R&D Material aims to reduce product impact on our environment, lower costs for our customers and company while maintaining quality and critical product differentiation by appealing to customers who seek greener manufacturing options. Also, R&D materials ensures material consistency by defining & cataloging materials. Responsibilities & Key Requirements

  • Interface with R&D parts suppliers through phone and email communication
  • Maintain material disclosure to collect information and conduct contract negotiation
  • Interface with marketing teams
  • Data transfer from manual spreadsheet to datasheet system (GEMS)
  • Maintain chemical information within internal database
  • Write/Revise & procedures &forms as needed
  • Improve response time to manufacturing demands for material changes
  • Improve response time to R&D need
  • Strong desire to learn and support long-term materials development &definition practices for medical devices (required)
  • Proficient English writing skills (required)
  • Strong organizational skill to arrange outside reviews, audits, and activities (required)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (phone and interfacing skills) (required)
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance (e.g., REACH, RoHS, FDA, etc) (desired)
  • Fundamental understanding of risk management (e.g., FMEA) (desired)
  • Familiarity with internal systems (e.g., EpiCenter, R-Specs, etc) (desired)
  • Familiarity with materials and BOMs (desired)
  • Strong MS office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with constant priority changes and sometimes ambiguous environment
  • Must be able and willing to collaborate with a team and provide excellent customer service and support to the customer.
  • Additional responsibilities may also be required based on business needs

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in Environmental Sciences, Materials or Engineering (or related field) preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of Chemistry, Materials knowledge, Design control, supplier outreach
  • High school diploma or GED required

Job Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time at desk
  • Work in an office environment

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time in the lab
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time at desk
  • Must be able to lift 10-15 lbs.
  • Travel is not typically required for this position

This is a long-term open-ended opportunity, not a regular temporary contract, typically multi-year.
