We are currently seeking a highly analytical and data-driven Director of Competitive Intelligence and Marketing Research. You will also need to have a deep understanding of competitor financials, including the ability to read, digest and summarize earnings reports, press releases, digital and social media, and all competitors across many key metrics. This is a senior role that will report directly to the Chief Marketing Officer, Chris Moloney. The ideal candidate must have a demonstrated record of analytical, quantitative and qualitative methodologies, and the ability to synthesize and convey data-driven insights in a clear, actionable, and visual fashion. The Director of Competitive Intelligence will actively collect competitive research and insights, remain current with the competitive landscape and work in partnership with the Marketing and Sales teams to develop strategies to counter competitive threats. The successful candidate should demonstrate great communication skills and be able to capture and present large amounts of data into structured actionable insights. Responsibilities Collaboration & Relationships Work with Marketing, Sales, Operations, Business Intelligence, and Finance teams to collaborate on the development of competitive strategy, competitor intelligence methodologies, and develop and improve reporting and other systems. Communication Manage regular updates to Marketing, Sales, and Executive teams on projects related to competitive positioning and strategies. Serve as a resource for Marketing, Sales and Operations teams in competitive situations. Present and train team members on competitive strategy, value positioning, and competitiveness. Analytics and Reporting Gather e-commerce and retail pricing, packaging, and promotion data on competitors, leveraging third-party sources, online, and primary research. Analyze data to provide competitive strategy, highlight pricing opportunities and inform recommendations for pricing adjustments. Analyze category data and work to exploit market opportunities and adjust merchandising and/or pricing. Deliver intentional, complete, timely, and accurate reporting on competitive pricing and competitive marketing. Monitor competitive data for completeness, accuracy, integrity, and shifts in competitor pricing, marketing, and strategies. Review and analyze industry trends, financial and earning calls reports. Competition Monitor new and emerging competitors and collect intelligence on competitive products and offers and evaluate the impact on Brinks Home Security. Create in-depth competitor profiles, including current strategies, expansion plans, retail price and position, promotions, merchandising, and product gaps. Identify trends and innovations executed by other home security companies. Stay current with home security and smart home technology, software, and hardware. Qualifications 5 years of experience in a senior role in Market Research, Data Science, Business Analytics, Business Intelligence, or comparable research role, including experience using business intelligence tools. Bachelor s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, analytical business specialty, or commensurate retail experience. Masters or advanced degrees and certifications preferred. Highly-motivated to develop expertise in industry trends and the use of data and analytics to recommend better competitive positioning. Strong attention to detail, and excellent organization and time management skills. Ability to present ideas, conclusions, and recommendations with clarity. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Solid public speaking skills; able to present ideas to diverse audiences.
